The honest take

✓ What works

AI proposal generation saves 20-30 minutes per pitch
Smart job matching surfaces relevant gigs you'd miss manually
Market insights help you price competitively
Built into the existing Upwork platform — no separate subscription

✗ What doesn't

AI-generated proposals can sound generic if not edited
Best features locked behind Upwork Plus ($14.99/mo)
Competition is fierce — AI tools level the field but don't guarantee wins
Platform takes 10% cut of earnings

Verdict

If you're already freelancing on Upwork, the AI features are worth enabling — especially proposal generation, which can 3x your application speed. Just don't send AI proposals unedited; clients can tell. The $14.99/mo Plus plan pays for itself with one extra client win.
